Last Updated: 10/24/18 -

With a competitive gymnastics background, Jamie transitioned into the world of dance in college and earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Modern Dance from the University of Utah.

Jamie has performed at the prestigious John F. Kennedy Center in Washington DC, and spent some time performing, choreographing and touring New York City & upstate New York. While living in NYC, her audience-interactive dabblings were shown at Gibney Dance Show/Share in Manhattan and she was delighted to rehearse with Alexandra Beller, Robert Wood Dance NY, Matthew Frazier-Smith, Zhan Li, Nicola Iervasi and Kevin Albert a bit while in the city.

While completing her MFA, Jamie received the Dee R. Winterton award for excellence in teaching and occasionally taught contemporary technique and creative movement at Ririe Woodbury Dance Company’s Saturday Studio Series. As a two-time participant in Movement Exchange Panama, Jamie also had the honor of teaching modern dance to university students and at-risk youth in Panama City. Her service, along with that of her colleagues' was featured in the December 2012 issue of Dance Magazine.

Jamie loves the dance community of Utah and feels very fortunate to have danced in the works of several local and international artists here including: Stephen Koester, Satu Hummasti, Pamela Geber-Handman, John Beasant III, Elena Demyanenko, Eric Handman, Erica Womack, and Twyla Tharp.

She is thrilled to be teaching as an adjunct instructor at UVU this semester and enjoys the students’ earnest work ethic and hunger for new ways of moving!
