About Mayra:

Mayra is a first-generation college student and earned her B.S. in Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Family Studies from Utah Valley University. Being first in her family to attend college, Mayra is grateful for the opportunity to serve as a leader, role model, and inspiration to her family and others. She has a passion for helping students achieve their academic goals and reach their dreams. She enjoys obsessing about mermaids, watching funny videos on Youtube, painting, writing poetry, camping, watching survival and tiny home shows, as well as spending time with her amazing husband Aaron, her Chiweenie Vivian (female), Lab/Australian Shepard/Pitbull/Wolf mix Duke (male), Lab/Mastiff mix Artemis (female) and Harley the cat (female). In addition, she LOVES being a part of the UVU family and most definitely bleeds green!

GO WOLVERINES!!

"In the end, we will all be judged by the courage of our hearts."

- Lito Rodriguez & Hernando Fuentes, Sense8

"The real violence... the violence that I realized was unforgivable... is the violence that we do to ourselves when we're too afraid to be who we really are."

- Nomi Marks, Sense8

"A wise man once told me, 'family don't end in blood.' But it doesn't start there either. Family cares about you, not what you can do for them. Family's there; for the good, bad, all of it. They got your back, even if it hurts. That's family."

- Dean Winchester, Supernatural
