I have been teaching at Utah Valley University as an adjunct since 1995 and an assistant professor since 2015. I currently coordinate and instruct in the paramedic program. I love the challenge of sharing new information with students to help them enter into or advance within their public safety career.

I come from a military, law enforcement, Fire, and EMS background. Needless to say I have had a comprehensive public safety career. I have recently retired from UFA (Unified Fire Authority) where I was a station Captain. Prior to UFA I was the Emergency Medical Services Coordinator for Eagle Mountain where I was instrumental in developing the EMS program; from First Responder through Ambulance Transport at the Paramedic Level.

I am grateful that my practical experience had allowed me to pass on my experiences to the next generation of public safety professionals. I thoroughly enjoy education and I am pleased to be involved with these dynamic programs at UVU.

I received my Masters in Public Administration from BYU. I also have earned a BA in Criminal Justice, an AAS in Fire Science and an AAS in Emergency Care & Rescue as well as various certificates through Emergency Management Institute and the National Fire Academy. I have gained experience with online and blended deliveries as a student and I am familiar with the advantages and disadvantages these formats present to my students. I am committed to student success by challenging them with critical thinking and opportunities for real world engagement.
