Don Seegmiller is a successful artist, author, and instructor. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT.

Don has been teaching at the university level for 17 years. He is faculty and coordinates the Illustration Area of the Art and Visual Communication Department at Utah Valley University in Orem, UT. Don teaches both traditional and digital painting and conducts classes for the Academy of Art University online.

His traditional oil painting work is represented in major art galleries in the United States.  

Don worked as the Art Director for Saffire Corporation, Art Director at Imagine Learning, has been a regular speaker at the annual Game Developers Conference, and travels regularly giving lectures and workshops at institutions as diverse as the American Medical Illustrators Conference and Disney in Orlando Florida.

He is author of Digital Character Design and Painting: Digital Character Design and Painting; the Photoshop CS Edition: Digital Character Painting Using Photoshop CS3: Advanced Painter Techniques: and Coauthored Ballistic Publishing’s Digital Painting 2.

Don’s work has been featured in the Painter Wow series of books from version 6 to the current edition, Electronic Step by Step Design, Art International magazine, Spectrum 7 , and Spectrum 8. He was one of the Judges for Ballistic Publishing’s Painter book. He demonstrated Painter at Siggraph a number of years for Corel and did demonstrations on digital painting in the Guerilla Studio.

Don conducts regular sold out workshops for the CG Society.

He is on the Corel Painter Advisory committee. He has used Painter from its earliest days as Fractal Design Painter® 1 and continues to use it as his main digital tool. He consults with Adobe on an occasional basis about Photoshop which he also uses regularly.

When he has free time he enjoys riding his motorcycle and fly fishing with his son.
