Candice Gardner accepted the position as Director of Major Gifts – Central for Student Affairs beginning in October 2018. Previous to that assignment she served as the Executive Assistant to President Matthew Holland since 2010. Some of her duties included; managing the president’s calendar, prioritizing incoming issues and concerns, provide a bridge for smooth communication between the President's Office and his vice presidents and internal departments, review written communications, travel arrangements, and managing incoming office calls and visitors.

She began her professional career at what was then Utah Valley Community College as administrative assistant to the Associate Vice President of Facilities and then assistant to the Chief of Police. She watched the institution become a state college before leaving the workforce for over a decade to raise her children.  Joining the workforce again in 2006, she worked in the private sector performing in multiple positions simultaneously including mortgage lending, supervision of loan processing, capital funding, trucking manager, account controller, and office manager. Candice then chose to come back to her professional origin and obtained a position at UVU as administrative assistant to vice president of Academic Affairs and former Interim President, Dr. Elizabeth Hitch, until she joined President Holland’s team.

Candice completed a Master of Public Administration degree from the Marriott School of Business, Romney Institute at Brigham Young University and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Utah Valley University in 2013. She has an amazingly supportive husband, Bruce, and four beautiful children, McKelle, Kylie, Michael, and Katrina.
