Alternative Break Program

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrowmindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of  men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime."

- Mark Twain

How do you want to spend your school breaks? Why not spend it making a difference in your life, and help positively impact a community? Be the change you want to see by serving on an Alternative Break.

  • Alternative Breaks take students outside the Utah Valley to engage in community projects and learn about social issues
  • Breaks last 4-7 days for domestic trips, and may be longer for international trips
  • These student-led trips immerse UVU students in direct service activities and learning experiences
  • UVU partners with Break Away, a national 501 (C) 3 organization that supports the development of quality alternative break programs. More information about Break Away can be found at www.alternativebreaks.org
