Dance Team Tryouts

Application Due Date

 Application Due by Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 11:45pm

Late applications will not be accepted.

  • Complete the Spring 2024 Dance Team Application HERE 
  • A current physical using UVU's physical form (found here).  This must be completed prior to tryouts.
  • Pay $40 Audition Fee through the Spirit Squad Payment Portal

Applicant information will be submitted online through the 2024-2025 Dance Team Application.  A physical is required to audition for the UVU Dance Team.   UVU's physical form will be required (UVU PHYSICAL FORM).

Tryouts May 3rd - 4th, 2024

First Round: Friday May 3rd from 4:00-10:00pm

  • Location: SC Ballroom
  • 3:30pm: Check-In
  • 4:00pm: Official Tryout Begins
  • Participant will be notified at the conclusion of the first round if they advance to the second round
  • Tryout Requirements
    • Leaps (Front, side, back, switch and tilts)
    • Triple & Quad+ Pirouettes
    • Battements
    • Fouettees
    • Aerials (Left and right side)

Second Round of Tryouts on Saturday May 4th from 9am-6:00pm

  • Location: SC Ballroom
  • All applicants will be notifed on whether or not they will advance to the second round on Friday May 3rd

  • Interviews will be done with staff members from the Department of Student Leadership and Involvement.
  • The 2024-2025 UVU Dance Team will be announced within 2 weeks.

Additional Information

Please wear appropriate dance attire that allows the judges to see the body move. In addition, please wear a comfortable jazz shoe or other appropriate footwear. Socks or bare feet are not recommended.

The First Round will be comprised of an application submission and live tryout. During the tryout, participants will be evaluated and scored on technical combinations demonstrating skills such as: leaps (front, side, back, switch, tilts) triple and quad+ pirouettes, battements, fouettees, and aerials (left and right). In addition, you will be asked to perform any elite technical, acro skills, improvisation or stylized choreography that you may have.

After the first cut is made, those progresing to the Second Round will be taught 2-3 short combinations of contemporary, jazz, pom and/or hip hop.

The Third and Final Round will consist of a short interview.
