Contemporary Dance Ensemble (CDE) is a pre-professional level modern dance company that provides real world experiences as students develop and enrich their artistry and prepare for careers in dance. Company members work with a variety of nationally and internationally acclaimed choreographers and have opportunities to perform regionally, nationally and internationally. CDE dancers are consistently featured in the American College Dance Association Regional Gala Concert, and have also had the honor of performing at the National Festival, at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC.

Blending harmonies, syncopated rhythms and exciting surprises make for an incredible night of music produced solely by human voices. Rhapsody, a 9 person group arranges and songs songs from “Sound of Silence” by Simon and Garfunkel, to Queens’ number one hit “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Each voice is amazing on it’s own, but together they find a magical sound. The newest group to UVU, VOX brings a new sound to A Capella by using looping, tight harmonies and rhythm and surprises audiences by creating live arrangements on the spot. You won’t want to miss this amazing night of the current top 40 hits performed by the human voice.

Each spontaneous, communal, music-making jam session is hosted by one of Utah's top jazz musicians. Traditionally, jam sessions have served as social hangs, networking opportunities, and friendly competitions - and at UVU, any professional, amateur, or student jazz musician is invited to bring their instruments and get in on the action. A great jam session can be like a fantastic conversation, introducing you to new musical ideas and perspectives.

This English/Spanish play celebrates two languages and two cultures. It uses stories from Mexican culture to give hope to a mother in a border community who struggles to raise her son and daughter. When a Señora comes to Pedro’s home and shares the fantastical story of the enchanted serpent and the Mexican legend of Cucuy, the boy learns life lessons from her tales of wisdom.

The seventeen-piece UVU Jazz Orchestra is the Department of Music’s premiere jazz ensemble. In recent years, the Jazz Orchestra has performed with renowned jazz artists such as trumpeter Greg Gisbert and Grammy-nominated saxophonist Tia Fuller.

UVU Chamber Orchestra

This intimate chamber orchestra concert will feature Mahler’s Adagietto from his 5th Symphony and Shostakovich’s Chamber Symphony. Both pieces reflect deep personal emotions about events in the composers’ lives. Mahler's Adagietto was his apology to his wife for his neglect of her due to his demand as a composer and conductor. Shostakovich's Chamber Symphony was written during wartime and portrays the suffering of his fellow humans and his own reflections on war. If you love delicate and deeply personal classical music, you’ll always remember this evening.

The UVU Symphony Orchestra performs a wide variety of literature from the 18th to 21st centuries. The Symphony's mission is to provide experiences that will enrich the musical artistry of students and enliven the musical community on and off campus. The UVU Ballroom Dance Company is a premiere performance company. After competing on Dancing with the Stars, the group won the Mirror Ball trophy as the champions of the show's first-ever collegiate competition. The UVU Ballroom Dance Company has won four world titles at the Open British Championships held in Blackpool, England and performed in China. The company wows audiences and judges everywhere with their fresh choreography and enthusiasm for the art of ballroom styles in International and American, including Latin, Standard Ballroom, Smooth, and Rhythm. Directed by Chris Witt and Tara Boyd.

The premier choral ensemble at Utah Valley University, the UVU Chamber Choir is composed of thirty-two undergraduates who share a passion for collective vocal artistry. This ensemble, conducted by Dr. Reed Criddle, specializes in a cappella repertoire of all styles and periods. The Chamber Choir has recently toured Spain, China, as well as the East and West Coasts of the United States. Come hear their sweet strains in the new Concert Hall.
