UVU Dance presents: Senior Capstone Concert | Boxed In

7:30pm Streamed Dance

The Utah Valley University Dance Department will be presenting a show this semester called ‘Boxed In, Boxed Out.’ This show will be performed and put on specifically by the Seniors in Capstone, as well as additional dancers who are a part of one of the senior’s dance pieces. The idea of the title has to do with being boxed in and being boxed out. The idea of being boxed in feels as if walls have gone up. It’s a metaphor for being stuck or trapped or feeling limited. That’s how the pandemic has felt for many people. Being restrained in dance does not exist as it calls for unlimited creativity and self-expression. But the concept of boxed out is just the opposite. It represents the discovery of freedom and endless risk when we travel outside our comfort zones and limitations to uncharted territories. Within this show, there will be different styles, different themes, and different genres of dance that all interpret being boxed in and boxed out. This performance will presented April 8-10th at 7:30 via live stream.

UVU Chamber Choir presents: Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem

7:00pm Concert Hall & Live Streamed Music

Brahms’ A German Requiem is heralded as one of the greatest choral masterworks, not only for its gorgeous melodies, but for its nondenominational, humanist take on a traditionally Catholic genre. The UVU Chamber Choir will perform his 1871 “London edition” for four-hand piano, chorus, and soloists. This chamber version, featuring Kathleen Stitt and Ashley Vasquez at the piano, brings to our epidemic reality a refreshing intimacy and musical clarity that would otherwise appear grandiose in its full form.
