The Spring Regional Fire School for Tooele County will be held April 26-27 at TEAD-Eagles Nest.

Classes Offered

Basic Fire Investigations/Hands on Fire Investigation

  • Dates: Course is 4 hours in length and you may register for am or pm class.
    • Saturday, April 27, 0800-1300
    • Saturday, April 27, 1300-1700
  • Prerequisites:  It is recommended that students be at least FF I or involved in an ongoing firefighter training program.

This course was designed for all fire service personnel involved in fire origin and cause determination, from the first responder to fire officers. The curriculum and information delivered will provide the tools for proper evaluation of a fire scene from fire’s origin through investigation and into potential criminal or legal proceedings.

The student will gain a greater understanding of fire patterns, fire movement, and be able to determine the area of origin through observation of physical evidence at the scene. Topics also included are fatal fire investigation, legal aspects of fire investigation, and how to work with insurance companies. Students should come prepared to obtain a great deal of information and the opportunity for the evaluation of actual arson cases.

Live Fire: Fire Behavior/Flashover

Classroom presentation on basic fire behavior, student witnesses fire behavior in a confined environment, describes the signs to look for and the skills needed to survive an impending flashover, students witness fire behavior from the incipient phase through flashover in a safe environment and to learn concepts and practices to prevent injury or death.  INTRO VIDEO

  • Full PPE with SCBA needed

Rural Command Training

    • Register for ONE of the following two times for the practical training exercise:

  • Class Limit:  12 participants
  • Prerequisites:  None
  • Audience: This course is for volunteer firefighters who might be placed in an incident command assignment at a working structure fire.
  • Incident command at structure fires has its own challenges in the volunteer world. Personnel, apparatus, and water supply are typically limited resources when compared to urban areas. This new, one-day course will focus on real world incident command at structure fires applied to the limited resources frequently found in today’s volunteer fire service. Participants will have the chance to learn and practice proven incident command strategies that can help them successfully run incident command at structure fires in their own area with their own resources.
