Service Scholar Program


The Service Scholar Program serves as a way for students to earn the Engaged Learning University Distinction (ELUD) which was designed to integrate student's educational and experiential learning experiences. The ELUD program also allows students to demonstrate hands-on experiences to potential employers, graduate programs, or other post-graduate pursuits.

The Service Scholar Program is geared toward students who wish to have a structured emphasis on service and civic engagement during their collegiate career and offers students an opportunity to interact with the community, nation, and the world through service.

General Program Requirements

  • Enroll in and complete 1 credit Engaged Learning Course (SLSS 1400:Dimensions of Engaged Learning) during your first or second semester in the program.
  • Enroll in and complete 6 Service-Learning credits
  • 250 service hours in the community
  • Lead a major service project or Alternative Break experience
  • Meet with Track Director (Laura Christopherson) each semester
  • Complete Final Portfolio
  • Complete Final Interview

    At the top of the page, scroll over "Organizations" and click on "Add an Organization"
    Search "Service Scholar Program, select and add the organization
  2. Access and fill out the Service Scholar Program Application.
