UVU's E-Mail Protection Systems
UVU employs multiple methods to filter and scan incoming email messages to ensure spam and malware are kept out. While no filtering method can prevent all unwanted messages from arriving in your inbox, the filters we have in place block over 95% of the bad stuff.
The UVU E-Mail Firewall provides comprehensive spam-blocking for UVU. It includes Bayesian analysis which has been shown to be the most effective and most accurate method of blocking spam. The methods and techniques used by the UVU E-Mail Firewall are constantly updated to keep up with the changes that spammers and malware writers are constantly making. The system is designed for high-performance, capable of handling 30 million messages per day.
UVU's Avinti iSolation Server eliminates unknown and rapidly changing e-mail malware threats and keeps them from entering the university's e-mail servers. It tests the actual behavior of incoming e-mail and attachments in a virtual machine to identify malware for which there is no known pattern or signature. By testing messages in a virtual machine, iSolation Server eliminates the window of vulnerability between a malware outbreak and signature update distribution.
