Biography

Majid Memari is a seasoned data scientist with over 8 years of experience and a diverse educational background. Alongside a Ph.D. in Computer Science, he holds a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering and an MBA. In his Ph.D. research, he used advanced methods in Deep Learning and Computer Vision to enhance the accuracy of systems that interpret text in images. He focused on generative models, a specialized type of machine learning models, to create synthetic images that improve text recognition capabilities. This work has the potential to impact various industries that rely on automated text recognition. He also holds an M.S. in Computer Science, where his research involved predicting stock market trends based on news sentiment analysis.
Currently serving as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Utah Valley University, Majid specializes in machine learning and computer vision with a focus on real-time drone and aerial imaging for wind turbine maintenance. He has also joined Potentia Analytics as a Data Scientist, where he is responsible for developing machine learning models to predict patient flow patterns in healthcare settings.
Previously, he was a Research Assistant at both the University of Pennsylvania and Southern Illinois University Carbondale, working on diverse projects ranging from big data analytics to generative models for medical image synthesis and biometric security.
