Dr Jones was born and raised in rural South Eastern Idaho. From a young age he has had an interest in computers and he gained his first experiences with the technology on broken down machines given away by local companies. He received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Idaho, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Colorado Boulder. Dr Jones worked as a Computer Scientist for the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) for a total of three years. He has also served as an Assistant Professor at The College of Idaho and Brigham Young University before joining the faculty at Utah Valley University.
