3.1 Evaluating Information

As you search, you should evaluate all the information you find. Books, articles, and web sites are created by people with a wide range of education and opinions. The information you come across could by biased, inaccurate, or outdated.

The CRAAP Test (created by Kristin Johnson at California State University—Chico) contains guidelines to help you decide whether the information you find is reliable. CRAAP is an acronym for Currency, Relevance, Accuracy, Authority, and Purpose.
