Understanding Gender: An In-Depth Exploration for Educators & Parents

This 4-part series introduces educators, parents, and other influencers to research studies focused on the biological and socialized distinctions between genders with application to designing customized and effective learning experiences. This will help educators and parents make more informed decisions related to teaching and learning pedagogies, strategies, and curriculum, particularly in this new educational environment. With the underlying goal of maximizing learning for each student, this course provides an in-depth exploration of gender differences with application to teaching and learning.

Segment 1: It’s in Our Genes 

This first segment explores current research into how girls and boys, young women and young men, and women and men touch, see, smell, hear, and communicate differently. It also discusses the brain differences between males and females, with applications to teaching and learning. 

Segment 2: Understanding Differences

This second segment explores current research into how children, teens, and adults, based on sex and gender, interact with risk and aggression, social media, confidence, empathy, race and ethnicity, and culture.

Segment 3: Building Girls and Boys into Healthy Adults

This third segment explores how participants can build girls and boys into healthy adults through understanding how hormones, puberty, respect, friendship, sexual orientation, and gender fluidity affect and influence each individual. 

Segment 4: Incorporating Gender into Teaching & Learning

This final segment of this 4-part course explores how participants can apply research-based insights related to gender differences to effectively manage bullying, discipline, classrooms, learning, and mindset to create effective learning environments for students of all ages.
