Using Humor to Bridge Differences

Can humor help us have better conversations with people who see the world differently?

UVU students, faculty, and staff are invited to explore that question at Can We Laugh About This? Using Humor to Bridge Differences, an upcoming event examining how comedy can challenge assumptions, open conversations, and help us find common ground.

The event will feature a screening of Jesters and Fools, a documentary short from filmmaker and journalist Rob Feld that explores social-science research alongside a variety of comedic voices.

Following Feld, Utah-raised comedian Seth Tippetts, whose Dry Bar Comedy special Tall. Dark. Gigante. has garnered more than 10 million views, will take the stage for a live comedy performance.

After the performance, Associate Provost Wioleta Fedeczko will moderate a conversation with Feld and Tippetts, exploring comedy, disagreement, and how humor can create connection across differences. Audience members will also have an opportunity to ask questions and join the conversation.
