Deferment

Deferred admission was created for students who need to delay their admission to a different semester than the one they were admitted for. Students defer for reasons including humanitarian or religious mission, military service, health, financial, employment, and family responsibilities.

Deferring your admission offers several advantages, including:

• Holding your scholarship
• Designating someone to register you for classes prior to your return.

Undergraduate students may take a leave of absence for 7 semesters. This includes summer semesters. Graduate students should talk to their program directors before deferring.

1. Complete the online Deferred Admission Application.

2. If you need to designate someone to register you for classes and act on your behalf, submit the online Student Information Release Form.

When you are ready, we are prepared to help you come back and continue your education.

• Log into your myUVU account and review any holds you may have.
• Contact your academic advisor to begin the process for enrolling in classes. You can find your advisor on your myUVU student portal or by visiting Academic Advising.
• Contact the Financial Aid & Scholarships Office if you have questions about applying for financial aid and/or reinstating a scholarship award that has been held.

Your account will remain active for seven semesters from the semester you were admitted, or the last semester you attended. If you return later than 7 semesters from the last time you were admitted or attended classes (includes summer semesters), you may be required to re-apply for admission.
