Empowering Futures: CJ Harrison's Financial Planning Journey
At Utah Valley University (UVU), CJ Harrison '15 discovered more than a major—he found his future. Through UVU's Financial Planning program, he gained skills and built connections that launched his career.
Today, as a partner and senior financial planner at DecisionPoint Financial, CJ helps clients across the United States achieve peace of mind and financial freedom. With offices in Arizona and Washington, his firm reaches clients nationwide. "Helping clients live more fulfilling, less stressful lives and make smarter financial decisions—like growing wealth and minimizing taxes—really is the best of both worlds," he says.
Transformative Education
"My education and experience at UVU changed my life," CJ reflects. The Financial Planning program provided him with essential technical skills and, equally important, connected him with exceptional firms and mentors. "The relationships and opportunities I found through UVU drastically altered the course of my life and set me on a path to where I am today."
CJ's career is built on doing the right thing, the right way. His focus on excellence, integrity, and consistency has helped him deliver meaningful results for both clients and colleagues.
Giving Back to UVU
Remembering what it was like to be a student hoping for an opportunity, CJ stays deeply involved with UVU. "I used to beg firms to visit campus, offer internships, and hire students," he recalls. "I promised myself that when I was in a position to give back, I'd do exactly that."
Today, he actively seeks out students who are uncertain about their future. "Somewhere on campus right now, there's a student who feels lost or unsure of their future—and I want to find that person," he shares. "If I can connect with them and help change their life like someone once did for mine, it's all worth it."
CJ proudly champions UVU's Financial Planning program and its broader impact. "The program is making a bigger impact in Utah than most people realize. The number of talented, high-character advisors it produces is remarkable—and those advisors are out in the community, changing lives by the thousands. The ripple effect is real, and it starts right here on campus."
