Artemisia

Artemisia: An Undergraduate Journal for Art History and Criticism provides a forum for any students interested in art and art history to share fresh perspectives on the arts with their peers. Artemisa was student created and continues to be a student run publication that features two types of student writing: traditional research papers on any art history related topic, and experiences of personal engagement with the visual arts.

The name of the journal, Artemisia, pays homage to Artemisia Gentileschi (1593-c. 1656). She rose to international fame as a great Italian Baroque painter when opportunities for women to receive artistic training and work as professional artists were few. The choice of Artemisia for the name of this journal is an appropriate tribute to the artist and her legacy of courage and tenacity.

Students interested in submitting a 7-8-page (double spaced) research paper or a 1-4-page (double spaced) encounter with art can send their submission to prior to the annual deadline of December 2. Editors work with selected authors for three months to edit and prepare their submissions for the April publishing deadline.
