In March, the Center hosted a comparative constitutionalism panel titled "The Constitution of Kyrgyzstan and Its Impacts in Central Asia," featuring a distinguished delegation from the Kyrgyz Republic who played a significant role in the drafting and development of their nation's written constitution. Kurmanbek Dyikanbaev, the Deputy of the Zhogorku Kenesh (Parliament) of the Kyrgyz Republic, Vice Chairman of the Committee for Budget and Finance and Deputy Leader of the Republic Party Caucus and Justice Sultangazy Kasymov, an adviser to the Bishkek City Court and a former member of the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic, discussed the significance of their country's constitution in a region predominantly comprised of authoritarian regimes. The delegation also visited the Utah State Capitol and met with several prominent members of the Utah Legislature during their stay.
