Construction Management Student Competitions Fundraiser
Catered by Outback Steakhouse
In the Construction Management Program here at UVU, you learn how to be involved in a construction project from its conception all the way to its completion. Construction Management is an exciting and fast-growing industry, and as a Construction Management Student, it is important to build your network and stay up to date with current industry trends.
Construction Management Students had the opportunity to attend the annual Student Competitions Fundraiser Event to network with local contractors and suppliers. Hosted by the UVU Construction Management Student Association (CMSA), the fundraiser took place on November 15, 2022, right here on campus. The Orem Outback Steakhouse generously catered meals and UVU CMSA provided drinks and dessert. This lunch provided students, faculty and attending contractors a casual networking opportunity. After talks were given by Department Chair Robert Warcup and Associate professor Eric Linfield, a raffle drawing took place. Prizes such as UVU CMGT branded swag and Makita power tools were won among lucky fundraiser participants.
Apart from being a networking lunch, this event was held to raise money for upcoming national student competitions. All ticket proceeds went directly to student competitions travel and support. These national competitions allow students to challenge their national peers as well as help students apply skills learned in the classroom to real projects. Coming up in February, students will get the chance to compete in the ASC Competition in Reno/Sparks Nevada. Events like the Student Competitions Fundraiser make these opportunities possible for students here at UVU.
Special thanks to Jeff Weisgerber of the Orem Outback Steakhouse for graciously catering and the UVU Construction Management Student Association for hosting this event.
