UVU has partnered with Technical Institutions in the state and created a pathway for students who complete a 900-hour certificate program from a Technical Institution to receive credit towards a degree at UVU.

Students who successfully complete one of the following programs from the following technical institutions will be able to receive credit towards the AAS Healthcare Services Degree. Please note that UVU does not offer these programs. You will need to contact the institution for information on the program you wish to attend for information about the program and career.

Coursework for AAS

To earn the AAS Healthcare Services degree, students will be required to complete:

  • 19 credits of specific general education
    • English, Math, Chemistry are required
  • 16 credits of core courses
    • NUTR 1020 or HLSC 1300
    • BIOL 1610 & BIOL 1615
    • ZOOL 2320 & ZOOL 2325
    • ZOOL 2420 & ZOOL 2425
  • 16 credits of health electives (Courses from MTECH will apply here)
  • 9 credits of general electives

Students who complete an articulated MTECH program may receive up to 30 credits of HLSC 1900. These credits will apply towards electives in the AAS Healthcare Services and various bachelor degree programs.

Students who have completed the AAS degree can advance their education at UVU. Some programs that students will continue into include:

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Utilize the specialized knowledge and skills necessary in various health professions.
  2. Develop effective strategies in communicating ethically and culturally sensitive information that engage individuals and communities in the promotion of health policies, programs, and interventions.
  3. Recognize basic anatomy and physiology.

UVU's Health Science Advisors help students meet the requirements for the AAS Healthcare Services degree. Students are responsible for identifying pre-requisite and other requirements for the techincal programs they wish to attend.
