Mary Shurtz comes back to UVU for this lecture series after almost four years at SpaceX, where she worked at their West Coast space launch facility before moving on to originate a role in the ground operations of SpaceX’s Starlink program. She has recently left to work for a small television and film studio, finding that the skills she gained in the high-paced world of private aerospace had suited her to take on all kinds of confounding problems that block creators from getting their projects produced. Her BS in Political Science and Master’s work in Art History probably seem as contradictory as her career trajectory, but Mary finds inspiration in all kinds of problem-solving, whether they be in logistics, aesthetics, experimental theatre, or aerospace.

Mary Shurtz is the inaugural speaker in the Degrees to Anywhere Lecture Series to be held Wednesday, October 19, 2022 – 12:00pm - 12:50pm, Clarke Building Rooms 510 & 511.
