OCTOBER 2021

Western Conference of the Association for Asian Studies

The College of Humanities and Social Studies (CHSS) at Utah Valley University (UVU) is proud to announce that we will be hosting the 2021 Western Conference of the Association for Asian Studies (WCAAS).

We look forward to receiving your proposals. For those needing formal letters of acceptance for funding or visa purposes, please apply early to provide plenty of time.  For queries, please contact conference organizer Dr. Alex Yuan (gyuan@uvu.edu). We think you will find Utah, and especially Utah Valley, an inviting place with a breathtaking landscape. You will enjoy your stay here. You might even want to reserve a little time after the conference to explore the area!

The theme of this conference is “Making Connections with the World”.  Asia--the East of the world--maintains an important position in the world, when considering issues of culture and civilization, the economy and politics, questions of national security and world peace, and many other aspects of cross-cultural communication. East or West, we believe that being connected is the best. A peaceful and beautiful global world requres connections, communications, and mutual understandings of the east and west, regardless of their disparities and differences. This conference will provide a venue for scholars and students of all disciplines to share their research on various aspects of the global influence of Asia. We invite you to a productive and stimulating conference in the beautiful setting of Utah Valley University!
