Director

Howdy!
I’m Dr. Benjamin Moulton and I have had the privilege of being the math mentor director since its inception in 2008. I’m a native Montanan, with a BS in Mathematics and a BA in Modern Languages from Montana State University – Bozeman, MS in Civil/Environmental Engineering from Brigham Young University, and a PhD in Education from Walden University. I enjoy being with my family, cycling and reading, and hanging out with all these awesome math mentors!

Program Coordinator

Hello friends!
My name is Serena Buss. I’ve taught at UVU since 2009 and I’m the Math Mentor Program Coordinator – which is the BEST job ever! I’m passionate about inclusion and educational opportunity for all. I love my students and having the privilege to be part of their journey. I love to be outside hiking, biking, kayaking, and anything really! I play several instruments; banjo is the coolest! I like to paint, and build stuff, but my most favorite pastime is spending time with my family and traveling.

I’ve been a mentor for several semesters and it’s such a fun and fulfilling job. I can’t wait to help you achieve a better understanding and use of math!

Hello! My name is Alley Holt and I’m studying political science and electrical engineering here at UVU. I’m from Utah and love spending time with family friends, hiking, skiing, reading, and trying anything new. As a math mentor I love helping people succeed and the positive impact mentoring can have.

Hey everyone! I’m Lynley Petersen:) I’m from a small town in Idaho, but now I’m here in Orem for school! I’m a dancer…. That about explains my entire personality…. I’m on the hip hop crew here at UVU called UVU Esprit DC, so if you have any questions about the dance world, I’m your girl! I’m a junior here at UVU and will be graduating with a major in Exercise Science, and a minor in Nutrition. I’ve been a math mentor for over two years now, and I LOVE IT. I really, really do. It’s an amazing job to get to help and see students succeed in a math class, and just college life in general! I’ve made so many dear friends working with different students, and am so excited to continue to make new friends:)

Hi, I'm Charlie! I'm a junior here at UVU and I'm majoring in English education with a minor in creative writing! I love reading and writing stories and am currently writing several books (which I hope to publish one day). I also love video games, anime, and horror movies. Math mentoring has been an incredible experience for me and I would recommend this job to anyone who likes to help people.

What’s up! I’m Jeremy and I’m from Spanish Fork. I’m about halfway through a Math major here at UVU and excited to be a Math mentor now too. Whenever I’m somehow not doing math I’m either rock climbing or playing chess. I’m looking forward to meeting new people and helping students achieve their goals!

Hello, my name is Reuben Day. I’m from Bedfordshire, England. I’m an Aviation major and currently a sophomore. This is my first semester being a math major. I love being able to interact and meet new students, set a good example, and help them in their studies. It’s a great opportunity that is very fulfilling in its nature to not only tutor math, but mentor individuals from every walk of life.

Hey everyone! I’m Karla, I’m an international student originally from Mexico and currently studying Mechanical Engineering at Utah Valley University. I’m passionate about problem-solving, learning, and using engineering to make a positive impact. I’ve been a math mentor for a while now, and I truly love it. Helping students build confidence, understand math, and succeed in both their classes and college life is incredibly rewarding for me. I enjoy connecting with students and supporting them as they work toward their goals. I’m excited to meet you and work together this semester!

Hey everyone, my name is Davis Kuerth. I’m a Mechatronic Engineering Technology major at UVU. I’ve been a Math Mentor for several years now, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it! In my free time, I love spending time with my daughter, mountain biking, and playing soccer.

Heya! My name is Megan Neal, and I’m from Payson, UT. I’m a junior here studying Elementary Education. This is my third semester as a math mentor, and I love it! I love being able to help students understand math and develop new skills:) I love connecting with people and am excited for this new semester!

Hey y’all, my name is Braydon Oliver. I’m from Chino Hills, CA. I’m a Math Education major, here at UVU. Outside of my time on campus I play soccer and rock climbing. This is my third semester as a mentor. I am super excited because as a mentor I get to not only help students with my favorite subject in the world but also get to know each of the students I mentor.

My name is Adeline Owen, and I’m from Colorado Springs. I’m currently studying psychology and plan to continue on to graduate school for forensic psychology. I love all things true crime, reading, and golfing when the weather cooperates. I recently started working as a math mentor and absolutely love it—I hope to continue mentoring because it’s so rewarding to work closely with students, build connections, and make so many great friends along the way.

Hey everyone! My name is Mia Phillips! I am from California, I am a freshman here at UVU and I am so excited to be here in Utah! I love all things sports! I played golf in high school and I love to play whenever I can! I am a communications major and I am double minoring in psychology and cognitive neuroscience! I'm currently working on a degree in exercise science, hoping to eventually become a physical therapist. Hello! Antonio here! Where am I from? That’s a loaded question, but I’ll answer anyway! I was born in Tennessee, moved to Spain, then Arizona, and finally Utah! I love to sing (especially Taylor Swift haha), dance, play video games, hangout with friends, and progress the Mechanical Engineering degree! I’m so happy to have been given this opportunity to be a Math Mentor and can’t wait to get to know you!
