We are heartbroken to share the passing of Dr. Lynn Roy Thackeray, a dedicated Computer Science faculty member and dear friend in the Smith College of Engineering and Technology (SCET). Lynn passed away unexpectedly on February 3, 2026.
Lynn was a remarkable educator who served the UVU community for nearly 10.5 years. His students were always his highest priority, and his commitment to their success left a meaningful impact on countless individuals across the university. He was known among his colleagues as a kind and insightful collaborator who viewed his work as more than just a job, but as a way to uplift those around him.
Beyond his professional contributions, Lynn was a beloved husband, father, and friend. Please keep Lynn’s family in your thoughts—especially his wife, Susan Thackeray (Technology Management Department Chair)—as they navigate this tremendous loss.
There will be a Celebration of Life ceremony on May 5, 2026 in the SE 1st floor Forum.
The Lynn Roy Thackeray Memorial Endowed Scholarship has been established in honor of Lynn’s life and the deep care he showed for his students.
