Project Summary
Against the odds and after multiple pivots, this project evolved into an impressive,
deliverable experience. The team traveled to all five national parks in Utah to capture
photos and collect audio for virtual tours. They combined these assets to create web
tours featuring stunning panoramas, spatial audio, and designed maps to indicate location.
This was accomplished for approximately five trails per park. To host these tours
and provide general information about the parks and hikes, the team designed and prototyped
a website with easy navigation. Additionally, they developed a primitive prototype
of a lobby and navigation system within a headset for these tours. Their progress
was presented to the Zion National Park Service team, who then shared it with the
design team at the National Park Service headquarters in Harpers Ferry. Moving forward,
the hope is to collaborate with them to refine the website and tours, making them
accessible enough to be featured on the official National Park Service website.
