Biography

Hello! I'm Misty, one of the Career Counselors in UVU?s Career and Internship Center.

I grew up in Wyoming and, after graduating high school, decided it was time to thaw out a bit?so I moved to sunny Arizona! ? I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and spent 10 amazing years teaching kindergarten before shifting gears into higher education. Along the way, I completed a master?s degree in Teacher Leadership.

In addition to working here as a Career Counselor, I also oversee the Career Hub?a walk-in space where students can get help from trained peer guides on everything from resumes and cover letters to interviewing tips and LinkedIn profiles. (Seriously, it?s an awesome place?come visit!)

Outside of work, I proudly consider myself a chips and salsa aficionado (thanks, Arizona!), and I love spending time with my nieces and nephews, getting lost in a good book, and traveling to new places.

One of my favorite parts of my job is helping students discover their passions and figure out what they want to be when they "grow up" (hint: it?s a lifelong process!). Career exploration does take some work, but I have lots of tools and resources to help guide you?and make the process less overwhelming and way more exciting.

I'm also a StrengthsFinder Certified Coach, so if you want to dig into your natural talents and use them to your advantage, we can explore that as well.
