Biography
Jamie Baer Peterson is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and the Eastman School of Music. She began her opera career as an apprentice with the Lyric Opera of Chicago and she soon was performing throughout the United States, Canada, and France, singing leading roles with L'Opera de Nice, Santa Fe Opera, New York City Opera, Central City Opera, Utah Festival Opera, Minnesota Opera, and more. She was a frequent guest soloist performing both classical and music theatre selections with the symphonies of Dallas, Atlanta, Hartford, Omaha, Waterbury, Princeton, and Westfield, NJ; and in two national broadcasts with the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square. No stranger to musical theatre, Jamie often performed and recorded with Encores! at City Center in NYC and is on their cast recordings of Out of This World, Call Me Madam, and Louisiana Purchase. Jamie has directed productions of The Barber of Seville, Don Pasquale, The Telephone and The Old Maid and the Thief, with Light Opera of New Jersey, and Handel's Serse with UVVA. After living 30 years in NYC and NJ, she and her family moved to Salt Lake City in 2019. Jamie is currently on the faculty at the University of Utah in the Department of Theatre's Musical Theatre Program and is thrilled to be part of the UVU music faculty.
