Biography

Laurie Miller is Senior Research Analyst for PK-16 Grants, Outreach & Partnerships developing literature reviews, strategizing grant plans of operations, analyzing grant evaluation plans, and providing research to inform the development of grant proposals within PK16GOP and Student Affairs.

Previously at UVU, she was principal investigator and director of the GEAR UP Utah grant from 2006-2022. GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a federally-funded program designed to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education.

Her professional interests include college-readiness strategies for underserved populations, collaborative and project-based instructional approaches, and online learning environments. She holds a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University and a B.S. in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University.

Before joining UVU in 2006, Laurie was dean and senior vice-president at Neumont University where she was responsible for the development and implementation of the academic mission of the university. Prior to this, she was a professor of instructional technology at Utah State University, Indiana University, and Brigham Young University where she loved teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students
