Dr. Jheng-Wun Su is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Utah Valley University. His teaching and research focus on robotics, mechatronics, advanced manufacturing, and engineering education. Prior to joining UVU, he served as Assistant and Associate Professor at Slippery Rock University, where he developed and managed the Advanced Manufacturing Lab and Robotics and Mechatronics Lab. Dr. Su earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri in 2019.
His research interests include 3D/4D printing, soft robotics, autonomous manufacturing, wearable sensing systems, and machine learning-assisted manufacturing processes. Dr. Su has received multiple externally and internally funded grants related to sustainable additive manufacturing, robotics, and smart materials. He has also mentored numerous undergraduate student research projects and competition teams in advanced manufacturing and engineering design.
Dr. Su has taught a wide range of courses in robotics, mechatronics, manufacturing processes, dynamics, fluid mechanics, and engineering laboratories. His teaching emphasizes hands-on learning, active student engagement, and integrating modern engineering technologies into the classroom and laboratory environment.
