Biography
Jim Nielson is many things. He has practiced architecture for 30 years; today he teaches it here at UVU.
A writer and sometime politician, Jim recalls the New York Summer Camp where Pete Seeger stopped in to visit, sat down and taught the boys to sing Wimoweh. This phenomenal introduction to singing was just a year after J. got his first 35mm camera. Both camera and song are enduring passions. He sang in the Tabernacle Choir for nine years, and he recently launched an online art photography gallery, focusing on abstract photography, of all things.
In public service, another life-long pursuit, he has held appointed and elected office, both in Utah and Washington, D.C.
And—an inveterate op-ed writer—he is, of course, working on a book.
