Biography
Taryn Hiatt is a dedicated clinical social worker and advocate with over 20 years of experience in suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention. With a Master of Social Work degree from Utah Valley University and extensive experience in grief counseling, mental health advocacy, and community education, Taryn has made a significant impact in Utah and beyond. She is the founding member of the Utah Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), where she led statewide initiatives, including the creation of the Out of the Darkness Walks, and helped develop Utah's first statewide suicide prevention plan.
Taryn has worked in various professional capacities, including as a Clinical Social Worker at Caring Connections, a Forensics Social Work Intern at Utah State Hospital, and a Research Intern at the State of Utah Medical Examiner?s Office. Her expertise spans grief literacy, peer support, and advanced clinical treatment techniques, including CBT, DBT, and motivational interviewing. A skilled educator and advocate, she has collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to improve mental health care and foster community resilience
