Kyle Merrill

Biography

Kyle is a Professional in Residence and Program Director for the Master of Science in Engineering and Technology Management in the College of Engineering and Technology at Utah Valley University. He has taught at UVU since 2016 bringing a wealth of experience as an engineering manager in the computer hardware and electronics Industry. Kyle's professional work includes more than 18 years as an engineering manager at Hewlett-Packard (HP Inc) where he led engineering research and development programs for ink-jet printing technologies. He holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Statistics from Brigham Young University.

Kyle is passionate about student learning and interested in all technology including the social and ethical issues surrounding it. His academic focus is on successful management of engineering research and development programs and bringing together diverse technologies to improve life.

With extensive international business experience, Kyle respects and appreciates cultural differences. He hopes students will see the world through different cultural viewpoints that enrich us and give new perspectives.

Kyle and his wife, Kate, have children who are beginning families of their own. He loves the title "grandpa" and spending time with grandchildren. He and Kate enjoy travel, the outdoors, biking, running/walking, gardening, and reading a good book. Prior to moving to Utah, they lived in Barcelona, Spain.
