Biography
Amy Barnett is a skilled international events manager, having acted as the principal relations liaison between diverse National Olympic/Paralympic Committees, their foreign dignitaries, and the organizing committees for both the Salt Lake 2002 and the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games. She received her degree in Russian Language and Soviet Studies from BYU and remains fluent in Russian. She has six years of international customer service management experience during which time, she trained staff throughout much of Eastern Europe, including Ukraine, Poland, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Israel. Her volunteer experience spans several years and includes collaborating with LDS international charities and a variety of non-profit organizations in Russia.
In the Office for Global Engagement, she directs all aspects of hosting international dignitaries to campus. Her position also involves organizing global events such as the large-scale conferences, the Global Spotlight Initiative, and various United Nations affiliated events on campus. Most of these events are done in partnership with UVU clubs, colleges and departments, and local non-governmental organizations. Amy especially enjoys her mentoring role on the Global Student Leadership Council, where she guides students to become confident global citizens. She received the UVU Award of Excellence in April 2021 and continues to be a passionate traveler who loves to share her insights and experiences of favorite places abroad. She uses her creativity to enhance global events at UVU and to contribute to enriching her work environment and the students she mentors.
