Owen Peterson

Biography

Owen has worked in the audio industry for over 10 years as a sound designer, re-recording mixer, production sound mixer, boom op, Foley artist, sound engineer and composer for film, video games and television. He originally trained as an actor, receiving a bachelor?s degree in Theater from Brigham Young University but then moved into audio after attending the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences. He then completed his master?s work in video game design and production at the University of Utah.

As an audio generalist, Owen has worked on successful projects from a wide range of disciplines and his work has been released on various platforms for film, video games and television including primetime network television, streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime, Steam, Desura, all mobile platforms, Sundance Film Festival and international theatrical release. He has also worked for companies such as EA Games, Illumination Entertainment, Universal, NBC, Nickelodeon, G4, Oxygen and others.

He currently works as an Assistant Professor of Digital Audio at Utah Valley University and has taught classes on game sound, production and post-production sound for film and television, music production techniques and audio mixing. He is a Wwise Certified Instructor and is also certified in Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Reason, Auto-Tune and many more. He still works regularly in the industry as a freelance sound designer, composer and production sound professional.
