Biography
Educated at Utah State University, Mike Pientka received his BA degree in Political
Science. He attended Brigham Young University where he earned his Master's degree in
Public Administration in 1991. He recently received his doctorate degree from the
University of Wyoming in Educational Leadership. He began his law enforcement career
with the Utah County Sheriff?s Office in 1984. For the past 37 years he has worked
exclusively in the area of Corrections. He has held such titles as Administrative Sergeant,
Jail SWAT commander, Classification Supervisor, Training Director, Inmate Work
Programs Manager, and Housing/Booking Sergeant. In addition to teaching for the University of Phoenix, he also teaches classes at Utah Valley University, Utah Police Officer Standards and Training (POST), Utah Department of Corrections (UDC), and for the U.S. Federal Air Marshal Service. He is currently retired after 37 years in law enforcement.
