James Bingaman

Biography

James Bingaman (Ph.D., University of Delaware) is an Assistant Professor of Applied Communication at Utah Valley University. He is a media and strategic communication scholar whose research explores and analyzes media effects in the context of sports culture, environmental messaging, athlete advocacy, and brand identity. More specifically, his research explores both psychological and sociological processes using quantitative and qualitative methodologies. From a practical perspective, he is interested in how media effects processes can be leveraged by individuals and organizations to inform strategic communication, advertising, and public relations initiatives. Prior to joining UVU, he taught for three years at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

James is originally from Perth, Western Australia (Noongar: Boorloo).
