Biography
A Deafblind professional with more than fourteen years of experience in interpreting, teaching, and accessibility services across academic, medical, governmental, and corporate settings. Holds a Master degree in Teaching and Interpreting in Signed Languages from the University of Valladolid (Spain) and has completed advanced doctoral studies in linguistics.
Brings a unique multilingual and multicultural perspective, with native proficiency in Venezuelan Sign Language (LSV) and Spanish; near-native ability in American Sign Language (ASL), Spanish Sign Language (LSE), and Catalonian Sign Language (LSC); and advanced skills in International Sign and Portuguese. Additional competencies include expert English, intermediate Catalan, French, and Italian, along with developing knowledge in Japanese Sign Language and Mexican Sign Language. This linguistic versatility enables meaningful engagement with Deaf, Deafblind, and hearing communities worldwide.
Professional experience includes interpreting, consulting, and accessibility leadership for institutions such as Johns Hopkins, MedStar Washington National Children's Hospital, the U.S. Department of Defense, and Gallaudet University. Has also coordinated large-scale conferences and community-based initiatives, demonstrating organizational expertise and a commitment to equity.
Research and academic interests focus on bioethics, interpreter pedagogy, ethnographic methodologies, and multilingualism in global Deaf and Deafblind communities. Dedicated to advancing accessibility in education, healthcare, and community development, with a vision of strengthening bridges between Deaf, Deafblind, and hearing cultures across international contexts.
