Awards

Champions of UVU Group Award

Institutional Engagement and Effectiveness - April 20, 2026

As a faculty advisor of the Future Educators of UVU organization I worked with colleagues to foster belonging in the school of education through social events, professional development activities, and opportunities for students to engage with peers and mentors. We have established an Educators Rising chapter on our campus and support students to compete at state and national levels each year.

Fellow Advance Higher Education

Advance HE - November 21, 2025

My application was awarded the status of Fellow of Higher Education after review. The panel made the following comments regarding my application, "The application demonstrates both the depth and breadth of the applicant’s teaching expertise and passion. Laurel clearly evidences a strong commitment to caring for students and supporting them in achieving meaningful learning goals. Her creativity in both face-to-face and online teaching contexts is particularly impressive, as is her continual responsiveness to student needs and her drive for ongoing improvement. She has succinctly and effectively shown how her practice aligns with all areas of the Professional Standards Framework, including the Professional Values, Core Knowledge, and Areas of Activity. Her reasoning is thoughtful and well-supported, and her referees provide strong, consistent endorsements that substantiate her claims. Overall, Laurel presents a compelling case for recognition and should be awarded the title of Fellow."
