Monica Campbell

Biography

Monica Campbell (Artistic Director/Choreographer) danced internationally for 8 years with Diavolo. She also acted as the rehearsal director and the Associate Artistic Director of Diavolo with Director, Jacques Heim. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Dance, and is currently serving as the Department Chair. She was the winner of the Rocky Mountain Choreography Festival and premiered an evening of her work. She was an Associate Choreographer for Diavolo's Fluid Infinities that premiered in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Bowl. Campbell completed a sold out run in Salt Lake City of her evening length piece The Final Hours, which investigates ideas of occupation, revolution, and community set amidst the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. Her Screendance, Aleppo Agonistes, inspired by the Arab Spring, won 2nd place in the pre-professional film-maker division, and an audience choice award at the Utah Dance Film Festival and was an Official Selection for the DanceBARN Screendance Festival. Her Screendance, Triumvirate, was an official selection in the Outlet Dance Film Fesitval, Tiny Dance Film Festival, International Screendance Festival, Portland Dance Festival, and Utah Dance Film Festival where it won an audience choice award. In 2017 she was awarded an Ethics Center Faculty Fellowship to accompany UVU?s Peace and Justice Studies Program to Northern Ireland. In 2021 she was selected as the Outstanding Educator in the School of the Arts.
