Dr. Darin Eckton

Biography

Darin has a unique student-centered perspective having spent over two decades in both student and academic affairs advising, teaching and administration at four different institutions (two private, one public and one for-profit), two of which were online. Darin loves to design curriculum and learning experiences that help students make the connection between theory and practice by way of innovative projects, research, and practical skill-building. And he likes to participate in Ironman triathlons and marathons!

Faculty Senate Excellence in Service

Faculty Senate

I was nominated for the School of Education Faculty Excellence in Service Award for the 2024-2025 year. However, there is a policy that prevents department chairs from actually being awarded any of the faculty excellence awards and some faculty don't know this. I was department chair from 2019-2025 so I could not be awarded.

Graduate Faculty Appointment

On November 1, 2023, I was appointed as a Graduate Faculty Full Member for a three-year appointment which will expire in September 2026.

UC Dean's Award of Excellence in Scholarship

University College - March 7, 2022

This award is nominated within the all faculty of University College and then a review/evaluation process takes place wherein the top candidate is awarded. Of all faculty in University College (some 100 or so), I was awarded the Dean's Award of Excellence in Scholarship for 2021-2022.
