Biography
Marie Squyres is a student affairs educator and leader whose passion for higher education was shaped by her experiences as a student at Salt Lake Community College and Utah State University. She began her career as an intern at SLCC before joining Utah Valley University, where she spent a decade in Student Activities leadership roles, including Coordinator and Program Director. She earned a Master's degree in Communication and Leadership from Gonzaga University in 2017.
In 2023, Marie was appointed Assistant Director for Learning and Engagement in UVU's Student Leadership and Involvement Office, overseeing the Reflection Center and interfaith engagement, The Zone, and leadership certification programs. In April 2026, she was promoted to Director of Belonging and Engagement, expanding her portfolio to include Student Activities, building on the success of The Zone to create a comprehensive weekly evening programming model, and oversight of the registration and recognition of university student organizations in accordance with UVU Policy 532. In 2025, she received the Student Affairs Impact Award.
A dedicated professional volunteer, Marie has served the National Association of Campus Activities (NACA) in numerous leadership roles since 2015. She received the Margaret Ann "Peggy" Hoffman Outstanding Regional Volunteer Award in 2018 and serves on the NACA Foundation Board of Trustees, where she was elected Board Chair for 2027-28. She also served five years on the Executive Board of Utah Professionals in Student Involvement and Leadership, including a term as President.
Outside work, Marie enjoys baking, writing, houseplants, Disney Parks, board games, and Survivor.
