Dr. Kristina Oldroyd

Biography

I absolutely love the field of psychology! I earned all three of my degrees — my BS, MS, and PhD — from the University of Utah, and to this day, I’m a proud and loyal Ute fan!

My research focuses on the psychophysiology of storytelling. Put simply, I explore how the stories we tell about our lives shape — and are shaped by — our physical experience. To get at this, I use an array of physiological tools like EEG, EKG, RSA, and GSR. I know it sounds boring, but it is super cool — I promise!

As an award-winning professor, I love making psychology accessible and engaging for my students. I’ve taught a wide range of undergraduate courses, from big introductory classes to specialized courses in developmental psychology. I’m proud to have received the Provost’s Award for my work in General Education and UVU’s Most Valuable Professor Award.

When I’m off the clock, you’ll probably find me in a yoga class, playing pickleball (So much pickleball!!), curled up with a good book, playing the piano, or enjoying a day on the lake with boats and waverunners!
