Biography

Jamie hails from Washington state & holds an MFA in Modern Dance from the University of Utah.
With a 10 year background in competitive gymnastics, Jamie enjoys slicing, dynamic movement with a swooping sense of flight.

She has performed in works by Stephen Koester, Satu Hummasti, Pamela Handman, Twyla Tharp, John Beasant III, Elena Demyanenko among others & had the privilege of performing at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.

While living in New York City, Jamie both performed & created works in association with Gibney Dance Show/Share and the Emerging Chorographer Series headed by Nicola Iervasi. She also performed in a 4 city tour with Matthew Frazier Smith and dancers (accompanied by a live string quartet) beginning in Manhattan, then traveling upstate.

Before returning to the mountain west in 2014, Jamie rehearsed with Alexandra Beller and Rob Wood Dance New York.

Jamie is the recipient of the Dee Winterton award from the University of Utah for excellence in teaching (earned as an MFA candidate). Other teaching highlights include Ririe Woodbury Saturday Series, and two trips to Panama with Movement Exchange; providing creative movement to orphanages across Panama City & technique classes for the University of Panama.

Jamie has been teaching all levels of Modern Technique for dance majors at Utah Valley University since 2015. She truly loves her dance home at UVU and watching the dancers evolve within their own unique movement voices.
