Biography

Robyn Ostby is a Firearm Examiner with the West Valley City Police Department Forensics Unit. Since starting with the department in 2010, she has enjoyed the opportunity to work in several disciplines including crime scene processing, latent fingerprints, and firearm examinations. Her current casework includes firearm comparisons, shooting scene reconstructions, gunshot residue testing, and serial number restoration.

She previously worked for the Adams County Coroner's Office in Brighton, Colorado from 2009-2010 as a Medicolegal Death Investigator.

Robyn has a Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic Science Investigations from Weber State University and a Master of Science degree in Criminology from Regis University. She is currently working towards a Doctor of Forensic Sciences degree with Oklahoma State University. She is also a graduate of the ATF National Firearms Examiner Academy.

She is certified by the Association of Firearms and Tool Mark Examiners in Firearms Evidence and Identification. Robyn is also certified by the International Association for Identification as a Crime Scene Investigator and Latent Print Examiner. She also serves on the Scholarship Committee for the Association of Firearms and Tool Mark Examiners.
