Biography

I live in Spanish Fork, UT with my wife Jessie and our 4 kids. In my spare time I enjoy making showstopping bakes that would take me to the top of The Great British Bake Off (if only they allowed Americans to compete), practicing a variety of music instruments (piano, trumpet, guitar, ukulele, kazoo) to someday compete on America?s Got Talent as a One Man Band (just figuring out how to combine all the instruments), preparing to compete on America Ninja Warrior by building an obstacle course in my backyard (including a zip line), and probably watching one too many TV shows.

I graduated with my Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Utah State University with my dissertation measuring relationships between student perceptions of the learning environment in online developmental mathematics with course persistence and retention. I also graduated from Boise State University with a bachelor's degree in secondary mathematics education and a master's degree in educational technology.

I work at Utah Valley University as the Director of the OTL Faculty Technology Lab and previously as an instructional designer for 7 years in faculty development/training of hybrid/online courses and educational technology implementation. Prior to this job, I taught high school/middle school mathematics, computers and Spanish for 6 years in the Boise, Idaho area.
