Waseem Sheikh is a tenured Associate Professor of electrical engineering at Utah Valley University, UT, USA. Before joining UVU, he served as an Associate Professor at Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) and as an Assistant Professor of electrical and computer engineering at Purdue University Northwest, IN, USA. Dr. Sheikh also has extensive experience working in the tech industry. He worked as a senior software engineer at Landis+Gyr, a leading smart-metering and smart-grid technology company, where he was involved in developing cutting-edge smart-metering and smart-grid technologies that were successfully deployed across the US and internationally. He received his MS and PhD in electrical and computer engineering from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, USA, in 2002 and 2007, respectively, and his BS from Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Pakistan, in 2000. His research interests include communication systems, computer networks, and optimization. He has received over $250,000 in research funding. His papers have appeared in prestigious journals such as IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking. He has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Utah Valley University Presidential Faculty Award and the Magoon Excellence in Teaching Award from Purdue University. He is a senior member of IEEE and ACM.
