Biography

I graduated with a B.A. in Advertising and Public Relations with a minor in Graphic Design from Southern Utah University and with my M.A. in Professional Communication from SUU as well. My research interests include Family Communication, Organizational Communication and Event Management.

I come from a family of educators, so naturally growing up, I never wanted to be a teacher :) but after teaching at a university for graduate school, I fell in love. My husband and I are originally from Utah, but just moved back from Nebraska recently. We have two little girls who are pretty dang cute and we love mountain biking, being outside and having lots of dance parties.

Communication is the act of conveying information and is part of every element of human interaction. Thus, communication studies is a broad and multifaceted field of study. It is easy for students to come into the field of communication expecting there to be clear, specific, and straightforward answers.

This is most often not the case, and with this in mind, I come to the classroom with three overarching objectives for student learning, each related to my perception of teaching, described above: 1) to expose student to new concepts and facilitate understanding of material, 2) to encourage students to create relationships with those in the classroom, and 3) to inspire growth and connections outside of the classroom. Can't wait to learn with you and have you in my class.
