Biography

Bix Hollenbach is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music. Bix is Brass Caption head at American Fork HS, and consultant for Lone Peak HS, both in Utah; is a former lecturer of trumpet at the University of Nevada Reno and trumpet with the Reno Philharmonic, and Reno Chamber Orchestras, as well as a freelance trumpet in Utah, Reno, and Northern California. He has recently played with Ballet West, Utah Symphony, Huge Studios, and LA East Studios, in Salt Lake City. Mr. Hollenbach is a native of Perkasie, Pennsylvania, a small town north of Philadelphia, PA. After completing his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in trumpet performance at the Manhattan School of Music, Mr. Hollenbach began an eclectic career in performing and teaching, starting in Nashville, TN, playing with Mini Pearl and Boots Randolph, as well as playing for Opryland and the Grand Old Opry. After moving back to New York City and playing trumpet in various groups, Mr. Hollenbach began a series of Broadway show tours.

Mr. Hollenbach has taught trumpet at Temple University, University of Kentucky, and the University of Nevada Reno, as well as teaching brass at the Cadets, Crossmen and Glassmen in DCI, and has taught the Brigadiers and Bushwackers in DCA. He is a clinician and adjudicator for Trumpet, Concert Band, Jazz, Solo, and Ensemble festivals, as well at Marching Band competitions with Youth Education in the Arts and throughout the US since 1996.
